DESCRIPTION / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The NY HELPS (Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Program Statewide) is a New York State program that allows civil service agencies to hire qualified permanent employees quickly and without requiring them to take a competitive civil service exam.It is created to help agencies fill criticalvacancies by streamlining the appointment process, though candidates must still meet all other minimum qualifications for the job.

  • Must be fingerprinted through the NYS Department of Education (required for new employees) - fingerprint procedure- attached
  • Clerical experience/knowledge
  • Experience with Google platform preferred
  • Experience working with Spreadsheets

  • Ability to communicate effectively/cooperatively with others

ELEMENTARY PHYSICAL EDUCATION/HEALTH TEACHER

LOCATION: Windermere Boulevard School

SALARY:  $42,426. - $54,014. (new rates under negotiation)

DESCRIPTION: 

The Amherst Health, Physical Education and Athletics Department is currently searching for an Elementary Physical Education (.6) / Health Teacher (.4) at our Windermere Boulevard Elementary school. The successful candidate is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive physical education program that promotes physical activity, skill development, and a healthy lifestyle among elementary school students. The teacher will foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports students' physical, social, and emotional development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New York State certification in  Physical Education, Dual certification in Health preferred
  • NYSED approved Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications

  • Experience teaching elementary-aged children  preferred
  • Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional strategies
  • Ability to motivate and engage young learners in a fun and supportive manner
