SALARY:  $42,426. - $54,014.

DESCRIPTION: 

The Amherst Health, Physical Education and Athletics Department is currently searching for an Elementary Physical Education Teacher at our Windermere Boulevard Elementary school. The successful candidate is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive physical education program that promotes physical activity, skill development, and a healthy lifestyle among elementary school students. The teacher will foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports students' physical, social, and emotional development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Plan, develop, and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons in accordance with state and national standards
• Teach fundamental motor skills, movement concepts, and sportmanship
• Design engaging activities that encourage participation and promote lifelong fitness habits
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and school administrators
• Adapt activities to accommodate students with varying abilities and needs
• Promote teamwork, cooperation, and positive social interactions
• Ensure a safe and organized environment by maintaining equipment and enforcing safety protocols
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff, and parents to support student' overall development
• Organize and lead school-wide physical activities, such as field days or other activities
• Stay current with best practices in physical education and participate in professional development

QUALIFICATIONS:

• New York State certification in  Physical Education, Dual certification in Health preferred
• NYSED approved Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications 
• Experience teaching elementary-aged children  preferred
• Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional strategies
• Ability to motivate and engage young learners in a fun and supportive manner
• Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
• Must be fingerprinted though the NYS Department of Education prior to start of employment Fingerprint Procedures-attached

JOB DESCRIPTION:

          Windermere Boulevard Elementary School is seeking a passionate and dedicated General Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with primary-aged students and a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. The teacher will be responsible for designing and implementing instructional programs that meet the diverse needs of our students while adhering to the NYS Learning Standards. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with NYS standards and support students' academic and social-emotional growth
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles, cultural backgrounds, and abilities
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student success
• Utilize assessment data to inform instruction and monitor student progress
• Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to ensure a holistic approach to student learning
• Integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies into daily instruction
• Maintain accurate records, including attendance, student performance, and parent communication
• Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

•  NYS Early Childhood B-2  and Childhood Education 1-6 certificates
• Prior experience in an elementary setting preferred
