ELEMENTARY PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER
START DATE: September 1, 2026
LOCATION: Smallwood Drive School
SALARY: $42,426. - $54,014. (new rates under negotiation)
DESCRIPTION:
The Amherst Health, Physical Education and Athletics Department is currently searching for an Elementary Physical Education Teacher at our Smallwood Drive Elementary school. The successful candidate is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive physical education program that promotes physical activity, skill development, and a healthy lifestyle among elementary school students. The teacher will foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports students' physical, social, and emotional development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- New York State certification in Physical Education, Dual certification in Health preferred
- NYSED approved Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications

- Experience teaching elementary-aged children preferred
- Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional strategies
- Ability to motivate and engage young learners in a fun and supportive manner
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
- Must be fingerprinted though the NYS Department of Education prior to start of employment Fingerprint Procedures-attached
