ANTICIPATED PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHING ASSISTANT FULL-TIME POSITION

LOCATION: Amherst Middle School 

SALARY:  $19.00/HOUR plus payment for additional credit hours, if applicable

HOURS:  32.5 hours/week

START DATE: September 2, 2025

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • TEACHING ASSISTANTS MUST HAVE TEACHING ASSISTANT CERTIFICATION OR NYS TEACHER CERTIFICATION
  • NYS PHYSICAL EDUCATION/HEALTH CERTIFICATION PREFERRED 
  • LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION PREFERRED
  • CURRENT CPR/FIRST AID CERTIFICATION REQUIRED 
  • MUST BE FINGERPRINTED THROUGH THE NYS DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION PRIOR TO START DATE Fingerprint Procedure -attached
  • Experience working with students preferred
  • Responding to Emergencies

JOB SUMMARY: A Teaching Assistant assists with instruction and classroom management under the supervision of the classroom Physical Education/Health Teacher. They must perform duties within and outside the classroom. Please see detailed job description attached to the posting

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: A Teaching Assistant must be able to consistently and successfully perform the essential functions of the position as outlined below:

1. Ability to assume teacher responsibilities
2. Assist in conducting classroom activities that enhance opportunity to develop skills
3. Assist with routine classroom functions
