ANTICIPATED PART-TIME TEACHING ASSISTANT-ELEMENTARY 

LOCATION: WINDERMERE BOULEVARD SCHOOL

HOURS: 16.5 hours/week

SALARY: $19.00/hour, plus payment for additional credit hours, if applicable

START DATE: As soon as possible

DESCRIPTION:

            We are seeking a caring and dependable Teaching Assistant to support students in a 2nd grade classroom. A successful candidate will need to have or be working towards their Teaching Assistant Certification and have valid fingerprinting clearance.  This role is essential in helping to assist our educators as they create safe, culturally responsive, and academic-rich environments for our students.

Instructional Support:

• Support small-group and individual instruction under the direction of the classroom teacher
• Reinforce lessons and provide clarification to students as needed
• Assist with differentiated instruction and accommodations for diverse learners
• Help students stay engaged and on task during learning activities

Classroom Management & Student Support:

• Help maintain a safe, respectful, and structured classroom environment
• Support positive behavior strategies and classroom expectations
• Monitor student behavior and provide redirection when necessary
• Assist with transitions between activities and locations

Communication & Collaboration:

• Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and support staff
• Communicate student needs, concerns, and successes to the teacher
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information
• Participate in team meetings and professional development as required

Please note: This is a daily part-time position (16.5 Hours / Week) in the mornings.

REQUIREMENTS:

• TEACHING ASSISTANTS MUST HAVE TEACHING ASSISTANT CERTIFICATION OR NYS TEACHER CERTIFICATION OR WORKING TOWARDS EITHER OF THESE CERTIFICATIONS.
• Experience working with elementary students preferred (K-5)
• Must be fingerprinted through the NYS Department of Education (required for new employees) - fingerprint procedure attached
