SECURITY OPERATIONS ANALYST/MICROCOMPUTER TECHNICAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST-FULL TIME 

CIVIL SERVICE NON-COMPETITIVE POSITION

SALARY: $70,000 - $85,000 annually

LOCATION: DISTRICT OFFICE

START DATE: October 8, 2025

DESCRIPTION:

The Security Operations Analyst is tasked with ensuring the district complies with internal and external regulatory requirements. Not limited to but including NYS Education Law 2~D and NIST CSF. This role is crucial for security operations and is a member of the district’s cybersecurity team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Cyber Security or related field
  • 2+ years Cyber Security work experience preferred
  • Writes clear and effective communication
  • Process Focused
  • Must be fingerprinted through the NYS Department of Education (required for new employees) - fingerprint procedure

DUTIES:

  • Response management – Assesses security alerts, closes alerts or escalates to other team members as necessary
  • Phishing Investigation – Evaluates phishing reports and escalates to other team members as necessary 
  • Vulnerability scanning – Leads the Vulnerability Management lifecycle by assessing vulnerability scanning results, assists with remediation priorities, and works with other team members to implement remediations. 
  • Awareness and training – Authors training and phishing campaigns, evaluates results, recommends and implements changes 
  • Policy Compliance – Ensures IT and Security comply with District policies and procedures, reviews board and department security policies and makes recommendations for improvements. 
  • Security planning – Works with the security team to develop security related project plans aligned with the district’s mission and regulatory requirements. 
  • Data Privacy o Data Sharing -Manages data privacy and data sharing practices in accordance with district, and state regulatory requirements. o Data Life Cycle Management – ensures district data is classified, protected, and destroyed based on the regulatory compliance policies and the NIST CSF. 
  • RBAC – Evaluates network and application security controls for compliance with NIST standards 
  • All other security related tasks as assigned or as needed by the Senior Network Manager
