OPERETTA DIRECTOR - STAGE DIRECTOR
START DATE: September 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027
LOCATION: Amherst Central High School
SALARY: $3,375. - $4,093. (new rates under negotiation)
DESCRIPTION:
| The Amherst Central High School Operetta Association seeks the position of Stage Director in accordance with the AEA Extracurricular Activities schedule. The Stage Director is responsible for working closely with the Director of Choral Activities / Operetta Producer to develop the visual aspects of the Operetta's 78-year award-winning legacy, including: -
Overseeing rehearsal, providing feedback to student actors and staff -
Interpreting and analyzing scripts -
Directing actors to ensure they understand their roles -
Collaborating with music director(s), set, lighting, and costume designers -
Coordinating with the technical director on stage effects and props -
Ensuring that the production stays on a very tight rehearsal schedule -
Conveying the artistic vision to the cast and crew -
Making corporate, team decisions on casting -
Develop a vision for set designs and props -
Solve logistical problems that may arise during rehearsals -
Manage the needs of teenage actors -
Conducting auditions with applicable staff -
Communicating regularly with production manager and staff Appointment to this position will be reviewed annually. |
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful Candidates must have prior stage direction experience
- Experience working with students in a school setting
- Must be fingerprinted through the NYS Department of Education prior to start of employment - Fingerprint Procedures - attached
